About: Calder Community Practice

(as a service user),

I was advised by outside agencies to speak to my GP urgently as I am a trauma survivor and was experiencing a severe flashback which left me terrified, overwhelmed and suicidal. The receptionist wouldn’t allow me to speak to my Gp, as it was not deem urgent and the soonest I could get a telephone appointment was in two days time.

Mental health needs are not treated as urgently as physical owns, despite my diagnoses being severely disabling.

My role at Locala is to listen to service users and understand how it feels to use our services. I report back to services and managers. I support to make change where needed. I really enjoy my job. Making a difference is important to me!

I would like to absolutely reassure you that mental health needs are considered as important as physical needs by Locala and the colleagues at Calder Community Practice, and I'm sorry you felt this wasn't demonstrated on this occasion.
