About: WestMARC (Ayrshire & Arran) / Bioengineering clinic

(as a service user),

I have been very satisfied over the last few years with my treatment at westmarc. I would like to draw your attention to two issues. I visited today and had great difficulty in finding a disabled bay for my car. I did find a number of cars without blue badges in these bays. Do we not check this anymore? Do we need more disabled bays as this centre takes in more and more patients and pick ups have been reduced. Should there be fines for inappropriate use?

Also, why do we have pedal bins in areas where patients have one or no legs or are in wheelchairs? Why do we have one bin with a sign asking people not to use their hands when they may not have any. There are bins available that have sensors fitted which do not need to be touched. It may be that the UK governments continuing cuts to the NHS will not allow improvements to be made but it would help people to do the most basic things without having to ask for help.

Dear lepusfr85,

Thank you very much for posting your feedback on Care Opinion. It is very much appreciated and we hope to address the issues raised as part of ongoing work that we undertake as a team.

The WestMARC & Podiatry car park at the Queen Elizabeth hospital site is for Patients and visitors and is monitored by the a company called CP plus. Anyone who is found to be contravening the car parking regulations would be given a parking ticket by the company. Following your feedback I will speak to my facilities / estates colleagues regarding the number of disabled parking spaces to ensure that the ratio is appropriate for Podiatry and WestMARC patients.

Thank you very much for highlighting the pedal bins that we use as a issue. As part of our ongoing environmental and recycling programme we are reviewing the types of bins that we use overall and will make sure that whatever we purchase as part of this programme takes into account your feedback.

Thank you again for taking the time to feedback your concerns

Kind regards

Heather McIntosh
