I was referred to the AECU at Milton Keynes Hospital by my GP.
The speed of the referral was scary but this whole experience in this unit based in the Maple Centre exceeded my expectations.
From the moment I arrived I felt welcome.
The Reception Team were expecting me and my booking in administration was very easy
I was then seen by a nurse who was so personable and helpful.
I expected to wait a long time to be seen and assessed by a consultant but very quickly was seen by the doctor who under a thorough review of my past history and current condition and then arranged further tests and x-rays.
Whilst waiting for the results of these test I could observe how busy the department was but at all times the nurses and health care assistants were cheerful and helpful to anybody who needed to check anything.
The lady who was refreshing the drinks stations and medical supplies also took time to talk to and smile reassuringly at patients
I was later seen by a consultant to discuss my results.
The consultant was extremely professional , I had a lot of questions and at no time did I feel I was taking up his valuable time.
He went to great lengths to explain things to me and also how I may feel over the coming weeks and explained what action I needed to take.
The whole day was frightening for me but the care and attention afforded to me during my time in the AECU was outstanding. Thank you
