"outstanding brilliant care"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was admitted to ward 12 for planned surgery for a full hysterectomy. Everyone was brilliant from caterers to porters to nurses, care staff and doctors and junior doctors.

On the day of the operation i was in extreme pain and therefore on mophine. My heart rate and blood pressure was considerably low for which the care staff and nurses managed by continous observations and being near my cubicle.

Although i was sub-concious i was aware every time they came and informed me of everything they were doing. Not only did this help to reduce anxiety and is considerate but it's a good strategy to keep the patient involved.

The full team work very well together with care staff communicating effectively with nurses and doctors, prioritising most ill patients and implementing care that sufficiently meets thier needs.

There are brilliant night and day care staff, doctors and nurses who show brilliant care, compassion, competance, commitment, communication and courage. The day and night care staff do over-exceed thier duties with genuine professionalism.

The doctors and junior doctors talk to you as an individual with feelings and not just objectively as a hospital number. They listen to all concerns and give respectable advice back.

All wards and hospitals should collaborate with this ward to learn from them thier strategies and excellant duty of care they implement.

Thank you so much all staff in ward 12
