About: Wathwood Hospital

(as a service user),

Wathwood doesnt feel like a hospital, it feels more like a prison.   There are too many rules and complaints get brushed under the carpet.   Its impossible to get leave, I can't even get a voluntary job...

Thanks for this. Really sorry you feel this way. Obviously there are going to be restrictions in a medium secure hospital. But Wathwood is very highly regarded and people do make amazing progress there. I hope you will soon be able to work through your concerns with the ward team.

Thank you for your post we are working closely with patients looking at restrictive practice (ie all the rules). We are trying to ensure everyone is in a safe and supportive environment. However we want to ensure all these rules are needed so if you think somthing is not needed please let us know through the morning meetinsg, ward meetings, patients forum or speak to your advocate, so they can represent you. Regarding leave this will come in time, I would suggest you work with your doctor and MDT and they will advise how you will achieve future leave and volunterry work. Please continue to leave feedback and I am happy to meet up and discuss in more detail if you wish.
