i recently underwent a very worrying operation at the Claremont Hospital and although the Consultant was clear in terms of the procedure I found the immediate after care left a lot to be desired. After the operation I was left for three hours with no monitoring or generally interaction. I was laid, unable to move due to a bad reaction to the anaesthetic and was petrified. I could not get anyone’s attention in order to ask for water and felt frightened and alone. There were male and female nurses/ health care staff in a nursing station who were laughing and joking very loudly and constantly speaking at times in a highly inappropriate and sexualised manner. I found this to be very offensive which caused me further distress. The staff on duty that day had clearly lost focus on the job that they were being paid to do and seriously reduced the respect that I may have had for this hospital resulting in the fact that being a patient at the private hospital will not be by any means my first choice. Please note, as the daughter of this patient, I have written this on her behalf from her verbal account of her experience, and as her daughter I am quite disgusted at the poor after care my mother received.
"5* Really!"
