"My brother's care in the E.D."

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My brother attended Hairmyres E.D. yesterday with chest pain.

I attended with him and the care and support he received was outstanding.

E.D. staff were supportive and informative and happy to respond to my frequent questions.

As a retired Senior Nurse of 26 years I was delighted with the excellent and prompt care that Stephen received.

Stephen is now in ward 2 after suffering a MI, however, I am sure that the prompt intervention of E.D. staff have minimised additional risks.

Thank you all.

Dear Purplemidden

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your brother’s recent treatment in the ED. I will share your comments with the team as they will be pleased to know that support was provided, questions answered and prompt care delivered. As a retired nurse you will understand how important it is to staff to receive all types of feedback and reflect on their practice. However experienced we are as professionals, it is still a worrying time to attend the Emergency department with a relative so thank you for your comments.

I hope that your brother is recovering well.

Kind regards

Lise
