What I liked

Our little boy was having his second general anaesthetic and after the first one being so distressing (not due to the medical staff at Eastbourne, who were lovely) we were extremely worried about how things would go this time.

All the staff at Uckfield, without exception, treated us with respect, kept us informed and included and made the whole experience from start to finish totally stress free for us all.

All our concerns had been passed on to the Anaesthiatist by our nurse. The Anaesthiatist went through everything with us and made sure we were happy with what would happen. She made sure we understood everything and also gave us options, which made us feel more in control.

The play area/waiting room was immaculately clean and the toys were beautiful. Our little one was kept completely occupied.

We were introduced personally to all the medical staff involved (including Anaethiatist and Surgeon) and all of them went through what to expect and answered our questions.

Our little boy was anaesthetised with no tears and no panic ~ just total calm. He was kept so well distracted he didn't even realise they had inserted the needle in the back of his hand. Before we knew it, he was under the anaesthetic and I left the room.

Once in the waiting area we were visited by another friendly staff member who made sure we were ok and brought us very much needed coffee.

We were taken back to our little boy before he was awake enough to even realise he'd been without us at all. He was as calm as he had been when we'd gone down for the anaesthetic.

The ward we were transferred to was as clean as the rest of this lovely hospital and the staff continued to make sure we were ok and had all we needed.

The whole experience was positive and we would recommend this hospital whole-heartedly to anyone.
