"Excellent 111 Service"

(as the patient),

On a Sunday morning in early August, whilst in Torbay, I rang the NHS 111 Service.  A painful condition I have had for months had significantly  worsened and I wanted to ask if I could have a phone consultation to arrange some additional pain relief.  I was efficiently triaged by a call operator and promptly contacted by medical staff.

I spoke with a very pleasant approachable male who said that they could do an electronic prescription, however they would rather advise that I attended the duty doctor at Torbay Hospital.  I agreed and an appointment was promptly arranged for that morning.

I saw a very approachable female GP that morning who examined me and prescribed new/additional pain killers.  The doctor also took on board an aspect of constructive criticism so even more credit to her manner and approach as far as I am concerned.

I also had to ring the Service again later that month to check if it was ok to take 2 lots of a painkiller on top of other types taken throughout the day.  Again, I received prompt and appropriate  service.

Thank you to all the 111 staff I had contact with.  Thank you for your caring and responsive service within the Torbay area.
