"My visit to ayr eye clinic"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I attended an appointment at the eye clinic in Ayr hospital as I have a condition that I attend for. I usually have all sorts of tests done to my eyes to get a picture of whats going on and if there has been any changes to my condition. On this visit I only had a couple of tests done and not my usual tests which I found strange, I usually see the lead consultant but they must have been extremely busy that day so I had to see a different doctor. I felt the doctor I saw was very rude and I came away not knowing anything such as: how bad my eyes had got. I think the NHS are fantastic and do a great job but I dont think there is any need for the doctors to be rude and not give the information I needed.

Dear Loch,

I am very sorry indeed to hear about your visit to the Eye Clinic at University Hospital Ayr. This is not the standard of care we aspire to and you should not have left feeling this way.

Could I please ask that you contact me on 01292 617087 and then I can get some details and investigate this further?

Dear Loch

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I can only apologise for the way in which you were treated during your visit to the department. This is clearly not acceptable and I would hope that you will contact my colleague Dr Phil Hodkinson with further details so that we can look into the matter for you.

Once again my sincere apologies.

Kind regards

John
