"Involvement/respect/dignity"

About: Princess Royal Hospital / Gynaecology

Having looked after family and friends, when they have needed hospitalisation they have always been treated with the greatest respect and dignity, always being involved in their care and listened to when they want to talk. the relatives are always listened to too and that is important. there have been a few muddles throughout the years but have been sorted promtly. The hospital is always clean. the nursing staff (as a whole) are wonderful, the Junior doctors (most of them) are willing to listen and take proper notes to pass on to the next shift.

My only critisism is some of the consultants, some just do not listen, especially to relatives! If a law about NOK comes in, they should be thee first to know and act, in my own experience this did not happen until I pointed it out! Laws hange and data protection changes, all staff should have knowledge of this as soon as it's implemented. this has now been sorted i'm pleased to say.

I would definatedly recommend this hosptial to anyone. its sad that Brighton was the first choice to expand as Haywards Heath would have made a fantastic larger hospital and easier to get to for all. Brighton goes up as it can't go out (only sea in the way!) sadly Haywards heath land was sold for housing, still it brings in the money!!.

I would like to see the spiritual needs of patients attended to more, spiritual needs are NOT religious needs, That's different. spiritual healing can work alongside medicine and often alleviate pain and distress of a patient without medication. I would like to see more of this.

At A&E I would like to see a full time GP instead of people coming in to A & E because they 'haven't had 'ime' to see their own GP. this would save so much time and money.

I do object to staff having to pay to park when on duty and their should also be a 'car share' put in place for them. when an appointment is sent out for someone who drives, they should be given a parking ticket to use whilst there. (appointments do run late sometimes) They could pay £2.00 for the duration. Visiting is different unless in an emergency so something could be put into place for that. or just pay someone to be on a barrier, show your appointment details or give ID for someone in and emergency situation. All other people can pay. Have one way in and out.

A few more volunteers to help those who can feed themselves properly (saves nurses time).

All said and done, this is a great hospital and I would definately recommend it to everyone.

Thank you so much for taking the time to contact us with your feedback, it is so great to hear that you and your family and friends have had such good experiences at the Trust.

Your feedback will be shared with the gynecology team, security (who oversee our parking services) and Lead Chaplin whose team provide our patients who would like spiritual and religious support.

Thank you again for providing such helpful feedback.

With best wishes
