My father was admitted to Wishaw General Hospital in August 2018 with a large PE. He was admitted through the ambulatory care ward, into the medical admissions unit and then to Ward 7. He was an inpatient for 2 nights and 3 days. He suffers from dementia and as a result finds it incredibly difficult being in hospital and in particular being separated from family.
At all times during his admission he was treated with kindness and respect by all the staff members we came into contact with. My mother and sister were allowed to stay with him all night on successive nights - firstly on the admissions unit and then in ward 7 and were both welcomed and made to feel as comfortable as possible. This greatly helped my father cope with his admission. In addition my siblings, mother and myself were able to be with him at all times during his admission and accompany him to his scans which again helped tremendously. I really wanted to commend the staff for looking after him so compassionately and helping as far as they could with us a family caring for him. This made the world of difference to his stay.
