Dear Yesbe,

I'm sorry for any delay or inconvenience you experienced during your visit to University Hospital Hairmyres.

The NHS Lanarkshire Public Reference Forum commissioned a public survey earlier this year on “wayfinding” which asked about getting to and around our acute hospitals. Over 6,000 people were invited to participate and whilst the feedback was generally positive, two recommendations from the survey were:

hospital signage and floor plans should be reviewed and updated

consider recruitment of volunteers in meet and greet roles in public arrival areas, to help people find their way to the relevant department when attending hospitals

I can tell you that our Voluntary Services department are currently working on the second recommendation and I hope my colleagues from Property Support Services Division will provide an update on signage and floor plans.

Kind regards

Rick

I can advise that we have instructed that the maps in the lifts are removed.

PSSD have not received any request to update maps. When the appropriate request is made this will be undertaken.

Kind Regards

William

Dear Yesbe,

The hospital floorplans have now been updated and work continues. The NHS Lanarkshire Public Reference Forum will be assessing visual symbols that we are considering to help with "wayfinding".

Kind regards

Rick
