"A painful experience that was made far more..."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

What I liked

I gave birth to my daughter in December 2011 at The Birth Place, the new midwife led unit within the hospital. From the moment I first called the ward to tell them I was in labour, through to being discharged the following day, I was extemely impressed with the way I was treated. The Birth Place is amazing! It feels so much more friendly and relaxed than a labour ward (this is my second child so I have something to compare it to!), and the midwives combined competence with friendliness and informality. I felt so at ease and safe, and I am sure it was because of this that I did not need any pain relief and my labour progressed so quickly that my daughter was born (in the birthing pool) after less than two hours of active labour. After the birth you are tucked up in a lovely comfy double bed....what more can I say!?! Fab experience.

What could be improved

Nothing.

Thank you for your positive feedback.

It is reassuring to know that we are providing great care. At the birth place our main aim is to provide a positive birth experience in which women and their families feel safe and cared about.

We want women and their birth partners to feel welcome and involved at every stage of their birth experience.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback.
