I do like to moan about NHS Lothian as unfortunately there is much to moan about but recently I had a good experience, though I use the term good advisedly. Following on from my 2 hour round trip to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where the vascular consultant was unable to offer any advice on my issue as I had not had an ultra sound scan on my legs. I expected to wait another three months for an appointment but lo and behold I got a phone call to come in a week later, which I did.
Met a lovely staff member who proceeded to cover my legs right up to my groin in cold gel, which was bad enough but I am rather ticklish in the groin area so it made for a slightly difficult experience.
Being the inquisitive type that I am I asked many questions one being why was it necessary to use cold gel, turns out it is not and she had something resembling a baby bottle heater to warm the gel.
Unfortunately that was on the opposite side of the room to the machine and getting a simple thing like a small table on wheels was proving difficult for NHS Lothian to provide. So cold gel was the order of the day but all in all the staff member was a credit to NHS Lothian and much laughter ensued. I wonder how long I will need to wait for a further appointment with the consultant where hopefully they will be able to advise on the best treatment now that they have the necessary information?
