My grandchild is in the Neonatal unit and while it's a difficult time for the family the care has been great. Unfortunately we don't live locally and had travelled up at the weekend to visit and offer my daughter and son in law some support. My son and his family came with us and at that point we didn't realise only siblings were allowed to visit so we had 2 disappointed cousins but totally understood the rules.
It wasn't until later when chatting with my daughter that she commented on the fact that a member of staff had brought their children into the room my grandchild was in! My daughter felt uncomfortable saying anything at the time but it would have been a different story if I had still been present at this time.
Surely this is against protocol and highly inappropriate. Why is that staff are permitted to have their children not only in the ward but in the rooms where the babies are and is appears family are not?
