I have never in my 52 years called an ambulance for either myself or my children.
Have nothing but respect for our NHS and would always think twice and very carefully before calling an ambulance or going to A and E
My 26 year old daughter became ill progressivly worse over four days, called 111 who sent out a paramedic who called an ambulance after making a judgement theirs not ours.
The paramedics and nurses were brilliant, kind respectful and professional, however the Dr in charge was rude and abrupt and had an attitude from the minute we met.
Almost cruel to my daughter and very dismissive, my daughters symptoms were eventaully diagnosed as non life threatening but still painful, never experienced before being a healthy young woman, told to get up and go home and no help to manage the symptoms at home, actually misinformed when pressed for help with pain relief advising us that we could get a certain painkiller over the counter when actually needed a prescription.
My daughter got worse and again I called 111 who sent out paramedic who called ambulance, they were so worried they took her again to A and E with the lights and sirens on.
Same Dr, same attitude, when test came back clear again my daughter was told her symptoms could and should be managed at home as if we had insisted she be taken to A and E, made to feel small and stupid.
Correct me if I am wrong but I am not a Dr and when my child is screaming in pain I follow what I thought was the correct procedure, ring 111 and do as advised, paramedics decided to take her to hospital and do test and thankfully her condition was not life threatening but still very painful, an explanation and a plan for what to do next would have been helpful and expected, but instead the Dr was dismiisive and rude and even cruel to my daughter.
I would in any other circumstances complained but would never take up the time of i know a very busy department so left but feel so angry at the way we were treated that feel compelled to right this review and would like to make a formal complaint, something I would never normally do and having been in A and E for hours completely wiped out having two nights of no sleep, cannot now sleep as just so mad and disappointed.
I hope none of my family get ill and need to use the A and E in Bournemouth as I would now be worried about having to see the same Dr again,
I respect and admire all the staff working in challenging circumstances but this does not give one Dr the right to be so rude dismissive and high and mighty.
"Sad, mad and so disappointed!"
