I dislocated both my elbows and displaced the right radial head in a fall towards the end of June. I was due to get an operation to remove the displaced radial head around early July but the surgeon thought to leave it as I had re-dislocated my left elbow a few days prior to surgery.
This was a nightmare for my wife and I as my right arm was out of commission and now my left was out of operation in a plaster cast. The cast was removed which allowed me some use of the left arm and I was then placed on a waiting list for surgery.
At the beginning of September I was admitted to the Queen Margaret hospital in Dunfermline for day surgery and was operated on by Ms Jane. Despite being somewhat worried about the procedure I was put at complete ease by the nursing and medical staff. Despite it only being just a week after surgery I have already commenced physiotherapy and have more movement back in my wrist and elbow than I’ve had for the past 3 months.
I’d like to thank Ms Jane, the anaesthetist, medical staff and all the nursing staff I encountered along the way for their professionalism and wonderful care during what has been a hellish 3 months of my life.
