I am 75 years old and requested to have a mammogram at George Eliot Hospital.
I was given an appointment straight away for a weeks time.
I was dealt with marvellously from walking into the breast clinic and walking out again.
The last time I visited the breast clinic was with my husband where he was diagnosed with breast cancer, he was 70 years of age at the time.
He will not have a word said about this department or chemotherapy.
Unfortunately because he did not know that men could have breast cancer, he waited from the Christmas until February before he mentioned it to me.
I had never heard of breast cancer in men, but made him go to see our Doctor.
Everything moved so quick, had Masectomy but by this time it had spread and he had to have all the lymph nodes removed.
Medication is Tamoxifen for 10 years. My reason for telling you about my husbands problem is because I would like it to be published that men can also get breast cancer not just women.
Just hoping my mammogram comes back clear (fingers crossed).
The only problem I have had recently was a blood test and X-ray due to new system to book an appointment.
Long wait for blood test and a 3.1/2 wait for X-ray. It worked perfectly before so why not go back to original way of booking.
Sandra.
