"My stay at pinderfields hospital"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital

I am appalled at my care at this hospital on gate 45 B

The emotional care is non exsistent from the nurses in fact in the 5 days I was there I only knew 2 names of the nurses who bothered to introduce themselves - the others were rude and ignorant and uncaring.

I was put on a ward not appropriate to myself because the ward I needed to be on was full so was dumped and ignored by most - the care assistants however are a credit to the hospital they do everything but are talked down to by the majority of the nursing staff

I was spoken down to by the nurses and made to feel like I was making everything up

One nurse didn’t know who I was despite being stood next to me and told my partner she had no idea what my symptoms were despite the handover being more than 2 hours beforehand.

The communication between departments is non exsistent and it is very clear that staff morale is non exsistent.

I did spend 24 hours on the acute assessment ward who do seem to have it spot on and the rest of the hospital should learn from this ward - they were caring and supportive whilst I was there.

Overall the hospital needs to get the nurses (not all) to do some work and to appreciate the care staff more because the ward I was on would have completely fallen apart with out them whilst the majority of the nurses never moved from the nurses station

I’m extremely upset with my stay at your hospital and I’ve left feeling very let down

I’ve much much more to add but it would be removed and would very much like to speak to somebody personally

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I am really sorry to read of your experience and can fully appreciate, and understand, how let down you have been left feeling.

I am concerned to note the issues you have raised and feel it is important that we investigate your concerns in much more detail.

Given that this is a public website, it would not be appropriate to go into your personal details.

Therefore, I wonder if you would be happy to contact our PALS team to discuss your concerns further.

They can be contacted on 01924 542972 or via email on myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net.

Thank you again and I hope you are recovering well.

Kind regards
