I went online today at 8.00 to book an urgent same day appointmen for my child who has a painful ear infection. No appointments were availabe. On the website it said that the practice opens at 8.30, so I waited, hoping that appointments might be released at that time. 8.30 came and went - no appointments bookable. I phoned the practice, it took a while, because the line was engaged, of course. When I finally got through I was informed that there were no same day appointments availabe, and the only way to book one is by phone!!! When I told the receptionist that there is no mention of this on the website, or indeed on the online booking portal, where it clearly says for same day appointments click here, I might have raised my voice a bit in frustration. Still no excuse for the receptionist to hang up on me. I have been trying to phone back now for half an hour without any success. This is the kind of service that gives the NHS, which is a fab institution, a bad name and a bad reputation. Big shame, our children deserve better. To the practice I would say: introduce more transparency about appointment availability and keep on top of your online presence.
