Truly appalled by the disgusting way i was treated by North Middlesex Hospitals Maternity & Transitional Care Ward tonight.
It’s almost comical that these people are put in charge of caring for pregnant ladies, but have no humanity, empathy, patience or common sense inside their beings. So at about 5:30/6:00pm i was transferred to the Maternity & Transitional Care Ward to have my 24hr rest period in between the inducing of labour medication, thats right people i’m heavily pregnant 2 days off my due date so the WHOLE nine months. Once on the ward a lady came around and asked me when was the last time the baby was monitored (something that’s in my hospital notes) i told her around 4:30pm to which she replied ok, so you’re not due yet and that it will be done later on. Before she could make her getaway i asked her if she knew where the bathroom was as i would like to bath she pointed behind her and said the showers in there. This i knew, but i elaborated as she had obviously missed my point that i would actually much prefer a bath not a shower to which she responded she doesn’t know and was about to finish but if i just hold on the other midwifes are completing handover and will be around shortly and they should know. I allowed her to make her exit satisfied with this answer. While waiting, my family arrived and visited with me, at 7:30pm promptly the security guard walked through the corridors ringing a school yard bell yelling visiting over & get out (on a ward with babies hours old) this was my 1st indication that maybe this ward wasn’t the best place for me to be, but we all gathered ourselves and i walked my family to the exit said my goodbyes and walked back to my room whilst looking out for someone to ask about this bath. Once back in my room i waited for a while before deciding that i would go and look for a midwife so at about 7:45/8:00 pm i set off looking for a single member of staff, i looped the ward 3 times before i grew tired and went back to my room. I noticed a call button for the midwives so i pressed it and waited after about 5mins the same midwife who told me she was going to finish at 5:30/6:00pm popped her head round, I explained that nobody has been around and I’ve looked and not met any staff to which she responded that they were still completing handover she left and again sometime later i grew tiresome of waiting and went on the hunt for someone to help me. I looped the ward again this time stopping at the exit as there was now a little crowd of husbands seemly waiting to leave the ward (which you cant do with out a badge) when finally a lady emerged from a room, because of were i was standing she dealt with me first and asked me if there was anything she could do to help but alas when i asked her were the bath was her response was she doesn’t work on this ward just transferring a patient and that was the end of our exchange (this was my 2nd indication i wasn’t in good hands). She then went ahead and asked the husbands ho
