I have been here since Friday 17th August due to a gymnastics accident. Causing tissue damage to left ankle and a tibia plateau fracture to my right leg.
On the whole the service seems to be stretched but very good, I have been on the Acute trauma and surgery ward, bed 3 ward 3. I am still here as of Tuesday 21st August today.
I really have to highlight just how good your nurses are particularly one lady. She has been outstanding and that really must be commended, she has dealt with difficult patients and members of staff brilliantly, she is informative, friendly supportive without being condescending or rude.
As have the majority of your HCA’s they have been loverly helpful and kind. You have a good team.
ALL EXCEPT A LADY. I’m not sure why but she has been really rude towards me. On Sunday/Monday I spoke to her asking kindly if she could close the windows whilst the AC is on as the AC doesn’t work with open windows. She obliged but hugged at me, I still thanked her. She has treated me really poorly. She has said good morning to all the other patients and igives then smiles, hasn’t looked at me once. She ignored my requests to open the curtains. When she came to bring items to wash myself with, she dumped them on the table and said “you can use your own implements” didn’t ask if I needed help and then left. When I needed help (she hadn’t brought a new robe) I pressed the call button and I heard her say, “oh ignore him he is only chnaging” I had to wait another 12 min (I timed it) until someone came who was the nurse not her. He was kind and helpful. Then again she ignored my request to have my cubical curtains opened. She has brought replacement urine bottles to every other patient except me, even though I don’t have any and has not once asked if I am ok. At 10 she took away the used towels etc, she was only 6 inches from my face, I said Thankyou, tried to start a conversation with her, and she blanked every effort to chat to me and then started a conversation with another patient. I don’t understand why I am being singled out, she seems like a nice lady and I’d hate to think I’ve some how offended her, but I genuinely think that’s not the sort of behaviour for someone in that position, not matter how she feels about said patient. I hope that this could be delicately dealt with so another doesn’t feel like I have done, because other than that the hospital has been a loverly helpful experience whilst I’ve been injured.
"On the whole very good except for one HCA"
