What I liked

I was diagnosed with a brain tumour 1st February 2011. The Consultant was excellent and explained everything in a clear and "user friendly" manner. The pre op was carried out professionaly anad again everything was explained in a "user friendly manner

What could be improved

I was not informed by the admissions department of my surgery date or time. It was fortunate that my GP had been chasing up an operation date as I was waiting for over three months and on Sunday 15th May 2011, I had to find out for myself the time that I was required to be at the hospital, which turned out to be 7.30am the following day. If I had not had the admission information a huge cost would have been incurred if I had not been there for the operation

Anything else?

I had to wait for three and a half months from diagnosis to operation. I also had no inform, when I was discharged of how the effects of my major surgrery would afffect me

Whilst we cannot comment on individual cases, it is not usual procedure not to be informed of your admission date and we apologise for this. Your comments have been picked up by the team who will look into why this was the case.

We are trying to improve the information received on discharge and again you should have had discharge information that covered all aspects of your recovery. We have asked that your comments are looked into.
