"Unable to book an appointment"

About: St Marks Hospital

Unable to book an appointment as nobody picks the phone and you cannot leave a voicemail as well. I have been trying whole of last week to book an appt. As my IUD device was fitted in the Garden clinic my GP is suggesting to contact them only for further help. In extreme discomfort and dont know what to do. Called and even met reception desk at St. Marks hospital but they also dont know what to do. The reception lady also narrated the same story.

Hello,

Thank you for your posting and I am sorry that you are in discomfort and finding it difficult to make an appointment. I have been in touch with our Systems Manager at the Garden Clinic in Slough.

Unfortunately, we have only one line into the clinic for patients to book appointments. The clinic at St Marks Hospital is once a week and the way to book an appointment is through our main booking line in Slough. Staff at St Marks Hospital work for other services, so it is understandable that they would not be able to help you and we understand how frustrating this must have been for you.

We have walk in clinics every day and if you are in considerable discomfort, it would be best if you came in and saw someone at the Garden Clinic at Upton Hospital.

We are trying a slot system for our walk in patients, in an effort to cut down waiting times so you could be given a timed slot and you should not have to wait too long to be seen on the day that you come in.We are also in the process of setting up an 0300 number which we hope will improve our telephone access. Our walk in clinics run every day.

Monday 12pm to 2.30pm

Tuesday 08:30am to 4pm

Wednesday 08:30am to 11.30am

Thursday 08:30am to 11:30am

Friday 08:30am to 3.30pm

I hope that this addresses your concerns. Please contact me, in confidence, if you would like to discuss this further. Alternatively, you could contact your local Healthwatch organisation for assistance. Healthwatch is the name of the independent ‘consumer champion for health and social care’ launched by the Government in April 2013. There are 152 local Healthwatch organisations across England, set up in each local authority area. Healthwatch is designed to give the public more say over services and to help prevent a repeat of past failings. Contact details can be found on our website www.berkshirehealthcare.nhs.uk

Yours Sincerely,
