"Histology results delaying possible further surgery"

About: Barnet Hospital / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

Had a lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy for removal of grade 3 breast cancer tumour at Royal Free Hospital.  Was told by Barnet General Surgeon that further surgery may be possible if the cancer had spread dependent on histopathology results.  The results should have come after 2 weeks from the operation.  2 weeks later and the results are not ready   I have been told that the hisopathology results frequently miss the two week target.

That means for me that radiotherapy and hormone treatment are going to be delayed. Meanwhile I may have remaining cancer cells circulating  in my body that are not being treated.

Dear keith1966

Thank you for taking time to leave feedback, I am sorry the results were not available and I have asked this to be looked into.

Kind Regards

Richard
