"Very poor experience, poor value for money"

About: Manchester Royal Eye Hospital

What I liked

I have had to visit this hospital since August 2011 due to an ongoing issue with my eyes.

I have been messed about since day one. For example on one occasion I was told

that I would need a followup within two weeks, the appointment came through the post

and it was over five weeks away from the last appointment. I complained and was told that the clinics were all full and they could not bring forward my appointment.

Then last setback is that I was given an appointment at the beginning of January but today I have received a letter telling me that due to unforseen circumstances my appointment has been moved to the first week in February.

This hospital is totally oversubscribed and the staff cannot cope with the volume of patients. It all ends up with people like me being delayed treatment and being messed about .

What could be improved

Stop cancelling / postponing appointments.

If doctors say there is a clinical need to be seen after two weeks don't give appointments six weeks away.
