(as a service user),

First baby - horrible night in Treliske no help to establish feeding and kept saying was getting no food but nurses not listening sent to local mw unit where pushed to produce and with all stress nothing happening so tongue tie not snipped and just sent on our way day later saying you can’t bf so bottle feed buy some on way home!! 

Second - I researched and managed to have tongue tie cut at 2 days. During that time I had syringes at home from bf group I went to before hand and with great support at bf groups and from Helen I managed to feed my last 2 babies till they were 1 and we had great feeding times. It was such hard work but glad I battled it and also got help.

Before I had my second and third, pre natal expressing helped me loads.

I am sorry to her of your experience with the maternity services which was distressing at a time that should have been joyous. It is disappointing that we were unable to meet your expectations at this time.

I apologise that you felt you were not supported with your feeding choice and tongue tie. I am pleased to see that you had excellent help from Helen our infant feeding leader.

We are in the process of building an infant feeding team to work on the ward at Treliske which should reassure you we are taking this seriously and have taken steps to improve.
