My mother is in her eighties and has not been in hospital for over 30 years. She took ill and was 1st put in a&e. After her being assesed they were going to send her home but my stepdad insisted she was ill and not ready to go home as her blood sugar kept dropping or rising more than it should and she had a few hypos.
She was taken to acute assesment unit where they looked into her medication and found she did not need to take a few of them. The staff were very informative and 1 of them was a diabetic nurse who explained to her and my stepdad what they needed to know. Her care in this unit was excellent thank you all. She was then moved into ward 32a where she spent about a week. The staff in there were very patient and made sure my mum and stepdad got all the information they needed, they were absolutely without a doubt brilliant so thank you to the nurses and doctors in 32a.
Mum is now home and feeling much better.Mum has been diabetic for many years and things change over the years like weight loss, no one ever told her that she did not need as much insulin or in her case no more injections or that if her count was 5 or under to get more carbs before she injected her insulin, so pls if you have this condition or your elders check with the doctors. A huge thank you to all staff in ward 32a FVRH for looking after my mum and for the care she recieved.
