"Elective Caesarean Section"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as a service user),

I had my baby by elective Caesarean section in Wishaw at the end of June. I was very nervous about the operation but every single person - from midwives to the doctors to the theatre staff - was so kind and patient. I really appreciate the chance to lower the drape and see my son being born. I was so surprised that I was able to do delayed cord clamping - brilliant. My care back on the ward was attentive and I was so pleased to get home the next day as part of the new Enhanced Recovery programme. Although this wasn’t the birth I’d planned, I felt the staff went out of their way to make it as positive as possible for me and my family.
