I had an appt at the above hospital at an Orthopaedic Clinic, to see a consultant.
As this was to be a first appt, I have no idea what the diagnosis and treatment for my leg is.The problem behind my leg injury was discovered by chance by a physio so, as yet I have not seen a doctor.
I have never been to Claremont hospital before and I reside on the opposite side of Sheffield therefore I am not familiar with hospital, the district, the traffic system including one way roads, block entries and the like.
I was on course to arrive at my appt on time only to discover that the main route up to the hospital (Glossop road) was closed!
I then began a somewhat circuitous route through the back streets of that side of town endeavouring to find my way back to the road leading to the hospital.
This journey ended with my late arrival for my appt at the hospital.
I hobbled into the reception area of Claremont and immediately apologised. The receptionist conveyed my arrival and apologies to the said ‘Doctor’ who sent her back out to tell me he would not see me!
This so far, is the latest instalment of my attempt to see someone within the NHS regarding my leg condition.
1.The first appt sent to me was for the 11 November – Clinic cancelled!
2.Automated phone call received asking me to confirm today's appt has completely the wrong time!
The doctor could have had the courtesy and patient care to at least have spoken to me. I think it highly unlikely that he was about to perform surgery on the first visit! Therefore he could have taken 10 minutes to speak to me if only to offer me some reassurance and a future appt. I am now waiting for a further appt to be sent to me.(Which will not be with this doctor) Maybe it will get cancelled again? Maybe Hospital admin will get the times wrong again, who knows? Will I have any choice in the matter? No, I will not but apparently the doctor does!
