"A special thank you"

About: Didsbury Medical Centre - Dr Whitaker

I went to see the doctor after having a few unconnected symptoms and generally a delcine in my overall health. The doctor listened so carefully and after a blood test revealed high inflammatory markers and an ECG identifying atrial fibrillation the doctor rang AMRU at Wythenshawe hospital and made me an appointment for the following day. This was the best thing that they could have done for me because even though I was not really ill enough to be in hospital, my overall health was getting worse. After numerous appointments at AMRU I was diagnosed with both rheumatoid arthritis and heart failure. Since I have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis I have been put on a quite strong medication which requires blood monitoring, this was initially carried out at Withington, however my doctor (who as a GP is ridiculously busy), took it on to also monitor what was going on, which has been fantastic because they have picked up things that have not been followed up by Withington. On top of this my doctor takes time out of their busy day to ring me to give me some feedback. I just feel that whilst the

NHS and GP's are getting quite bad press at the moment, this doctor is one of those incredibly special ones who should have a special mention. In todays society we are always very quick to criticise yet we rarely say when something is good, and I feel the support and care that I have received from this doctor has been exemplary and I could never thank them enough. I have been one of those people who has very fortunately had excellent health for 48 years and it is just since July that I have had to have so many appointments with both my GP and the NHS. In general, I have felt that all of the treatment and care I have received has been between very good and excellent but the care from my GP has been outstanding. I do hope that my sentiments get passed on.

In terms of question number 4 below this all started in July 2016 however the issues are ongoing.
