"My stay in Lincoln county hospital"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Accident and emergency Lincoln County Hospital / Medical emergency assessment unit short stay (MEAUSS)

(as a service user),

I arrived at a&e was triarged eventually saw Dr.

Then I was put in a corner to sit and wait for a bed. The visitors in the cubicle next to my chair they were talking very loud for 2hrs plus it was hot. I was getting quite panicky I asked them to keep the noise down.  Thought it would be good if I pulled the curtain maybe it would muffle the sound. One of the visitors really started screaming at me. The nurse said I was arguing. After the nurse had apologized to the visitors the nurse came to me and said in a very harsh and coldly asked if I had anxiety and depression. I was not aware that a &d was a crime but you would think it was according to this member of staff.

I eventually went on med emergency ward. Another nurse wanted to adjust my canula. The nurse really hurt me honestly I screamed what the hell are you doing god that really hurt apparently I was rude and I swore at the nurse. Another nurse asked why the first nurse wasn't tending to me the first nurse said that I was rude and swore. I did not expect a comment like this from a med professional !!! its a shame because so many lovely staff just abit of training to be aware of mental health issues you must come across this all the time

Dear Foggyboo

I am sorry to read about your recent experience in Lincoln A&E and will be sharing this with the team as a learning point.

The A&E team have experience of dealing with patients with anxiety and depression and my apologies if you do not feel you were treated with dignity, this is not the level of experience we would hope for the patients.

Karen Hansord – A&E Sister
