"Puffin Children’s Ward"

About: Basildon University Hospital

My 14 year old son ended up at A&E this week for the second time this year with abdominal pains/suspected appendicitis. Our A&E experience was smooth, the nurses were wonderful and the only bad thing was that he had to be admitted! We then were moved to the Puffin Children’s Ward. Due to the heatwave the ward was like an oven although there were fans and an air conditioning unit provided. The nurses were all amazing working in this heat with a smile on their faces. Our nurse deserves a special mention as she was friendly, approachable, always smiling, nothing was too much trouble. A perfect example of someone that was certainly in the right job - she was amazing. Hats off to all these amazing people.

We are always pleased when relatives take the time to write with their appreciation of the care and treatment their loved ones have received at Basildon Hospital, and were pleased to hear that your son's experience in the Emergency Department and subsequent stay on Puffin Ward was a positive one.

Your comments have been shared with the senior team to ensure staff are made aware of your kind words.
