"family planning clinic"

About: The Knoll Hospital / Day Hospital

(as a service user),

i went to the family planning clinic at my local doctors to get my contraceptive implant removed. it had been in for about a month-2 months and i was experiencing low moods, weight gain, heavy bleeding every day, constantly feeling dizzy and light headed, and being sick every day. i went to the clinic and asked her to remove it and she refused to because she finished in 10 minutes. she asked me what i would do if i got pregnant? surely as the advisor she should be guiding me and giving me options. she also asked what was i going to go on if i came off this. Surely it should be me asking this question. another unprofessional thing said was if I lose any more weight I’ll die. i was 102lbs, 5”3. i weighed a lot less before i got the implant and was still alive, as she is not a dietitian she has no right to say this. i am now stuck with a piece of plastic in my arm that i still don’t want, all because this lady wanted to go home.

Dear eden

I am very sorry to hear of your experience when you attended the family planning clinic at your local doctors.

In order to ensure that I pass the details on to the correct members of staff to deal with, I would be grateful if you could provide me with some more information on where and when this took place.

If it easier for you to discuss this over the telephone, please call me on (01896) 825596.

Regards,

Karen
