"Unsatisfactory / Disappointing"

About: Birch Hill Hospital

I came to visit my sister, vulnerable young Lady unaware of her surroundings. Our visit took place in the communal dining room where there were other patients walking in and out with no privacy at all. I walked out with my sister to go sit in her room and we were quickly pushed back to the communal by staff. I then asked a member of staff for an update on her condition/medication etc. I was shuffled away quickly and was not informed of anything or how she has been since arriving. I am very disappointed in the care and service that is being given here she was better off coping alone at home! Unsatisfactory is the least I could say! Hollingworth Ward, John Elliot Building

Thank you for your post, I was sorry to learn of your less than satisfactory experience within the John Elliott Unit.

Although the Unit is based within Birch Hill Hospital, Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust manages the Hollingworth Ward.

Should you remain concerned about your experience and wish to discuss this matter further, please contact Pennine Care’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at your earliest opportunity on telephone 0161 716 3178, or via the website https://www.penninecare.nhs.uk/contact/?id=1218 quoting that you have been advised to do so via NHS Choices, and they will do their best to address your concerns.

Regards,

Head of Patient Experience
