After the unsuccessful treatment with antibiotics of a very large and painful abscess, I was referred, on a Saturday morning to the Surgical Assessment Unit of East Surrey Hospital. Within a few hours I had been assessed, had blood tests and the abscess had been drained under local anaesthetic bringing much relief. I was offered the opportunity of having this done under general anaesthetic. The staff at the unit were all extremely kind, and kept me informed of any delays. The nurse and the doctor were efficient, capable and understanding and explained every stage of the procedure to me. Congratulations to this Unit at ESH.
I also had received the same excellent care from the Practice Nurse at my own Redhill surgery who originally prescribed the antibiotics and made the referral to ESH.
