"Teddy bear hospital in Royal Hospital for children glasgow"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow)

(as a parent/guardian),

I heard about the teddy hospital from a friend.   However, when I tried to contact them I found it very difficult as it wasnt advertised well and clinic staff in the hospital were unaware of this service.   I received a phone call from Jane at the teddy bear hospital inviting us in.   Both myself, my two sons and my friend went along and we were grated very warmly and found the whole experience very positive.   I feel that the teddy bear hospital needs to be advertised more as its a brilliant service.   It not only relieves stress on the child but also in the parent.   The staff in the teddy bear hospital go above and beyond and should be commended on the skills they have when with working with children.

Dear Thomasmcc

Thank you for your feedback and kind comments relating to the service provided at our Teddy Hospital.

We know that attending hospital can be very daunting for children and indeed, their parents. Jane and the team in the Teddy Hospital strive to minimise that stress and prepare young children for what they might undergo whilst in hospital. We will ensure that your feedback is passed on to Jane and the Play Team. They will be delighted that they were able to support you and your children in such a positive way.

Whilst many of our wider staff and teams will have awareness of the Teddy Hospital it appears from your experience of trying to contact and get information that this may need improving. Thank you for highlighting this and we will link in with all teams throughout the hospital to ensure they are fully aware of this service and have the relevant contact details to pass on to patients and families.

I hope both your sons are doing well.

Best wishes

Pam
