"Unhappy with McNair centre"

About: Guy's Hospital / Gynaecology

I am very disappointed with McNair centre at Guys hospital due to unsatisfied service that I received from them. I was referred to them in April to see a gynaecologist after dealing me for 40 mins before seeing me now said he look after me because he hasn't got enough experience to have my surgery done. If he hasn't got enough experience and what are you doing there to get paid and waste people time. He now said he will referral to a experience doctors. After waiting for ages again from another doctor now booked me reassessment getting there dealing me again for one hour and later said there is fire in the building asked every one to vacate stayed over 30 mins aside then getting inside they said no more seen anyone. This is twice now. I don't really understand the cause of this delay but nurses will be walking around you doing nothing and be saying they are running late where by no patient was late that caused the delay. If not the delay I would have been seen before the fire alarm because one hour is enough to see a patient. I suggest nurses need a supervisor over there. So they can be serious with their work and not just chatting around people.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear you have been unhappy with your experience of treatment and care at the centre. As a Trust we see patients with a wide range of conditions and on occasion our doctors may refer a patient to a colleague with greater expertise in that patients condition. This is to try and ensure that to ensure that patients get the best possible treatment from the doctor with the greatest expertise in that area. It is very unfortunate that you appointment was further delayed by a fire in the building and we would like to apologise for this. However, as this this was a genuine fire, the clinic was cancelled to ensure that all patients were safe. We are trying to re-book appointments for patients affected by this as a priority. We have a number of clinics running from the McNair Centre which operate at different times and may be running behind schedule. We will talk with the administration teams about the importance of keeping patients informed of waiting times if there are delays in clinics. We will share your comments with the nursing and medical teams. If you would like to contact our PALS Team on 020 7188 8801 or email pals@gstt.nhs.uk they will be able to look into this further for you.
