"Hip replacement waiting times"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Bones, joint and fractures

(as a relative),

My wife has been on a waiting list for approx 40 weeks for an appointment. Last week she received a letter to meet the surgeon in September. Two days later she got a phone call saying that the waiting time AFTER the meeting would be another 40 weeks! What is the hold up? Nearly 2 years? ! ! We are both OAP's and carers for grandchildren under 3 years (given my wife's condition I am also her carer).

Dear Partickboy

Thank you for getting in touch with us.

Unfortunately, the Orthopaedic Service is under pressure which has resulted in the service not meeting the waiting time target. I understand how frustrating this must be for your wife and you, and the impact this has on your lives.

Please be assured that we are constantly reviewing our service to try to minimise the waiting times for patients where possible.

Kind Regards

Susan Groom

General Manager – South Sector
