What could be improved

my uncle's been an inpatient on and off since june.he went in for knee surgery which went ok.he's an elderly diabetic, and on admission had an open leg ulcer and what sounds like areas of necrosis. this went ignored for days. the op wound was dressed and the ulcer was left oozing/dripping despite my aunts frequent complaints. she found him in wet trousers with a pool of fluid on the floor.she changed him thinking he'd wet himself to find all the leakage was from this leg wound.he asked for help with constipation, and was then left in his bed despite he and other patients calling for help, nurses ignoring them. he then soiled himself and had to wait to be cleaned .this wasnt done properly-as soon as he got into bed it was dirty again and he was told off for being a dirty boy! how degrading!the state of the ward is generally filthy and the general standard of care has been shockingly poor. at one point he was very confused and unable to recognise family and staff said what do you expect-he's old.staff continually ignored family telling them this was abnormal.my aunt tried to complain but there was never anyone in authority around. she's now made a complaint to the trust only to be told that she has no right to complain-only the patient, who is now far too ill to write.had i been there by now i would have turned up with a news crew and my MP.my aunt is going to go to the press. there is much more to say but not enough space, but being told you have no rights to make valid complaints will not be tolerated and with the recent comments by the CQC about the poor standard of elderly care in some hospitals, this hospital ,specifically ridge ward needs to improve by 1000%. my uncle now fears he will never leave hospital and to feel that he would be safer anywhere but your hospital should make you hang your heads in shame. feel free to contact me and i wll give you my aunts details, and see if anyone has the nerve to speak to her in person.
