I've had many surgeries in the past few years , and thanks to the great care provided by my local gp's I'm now back to work and feeling full of life again.
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and after a few years opted to have a gastric bypass to better my health in general ( I have to say the after care for me was terrible, i've only seen a dietician once since surgery and that only happened because of my diabetes nurses, i've never had a follow up with the surgeon ). Sadly it came to light after I had surgery that it was in fact type 1 diabetes I had , I ended up feeling quite ill , its very hard to control my diabetes now as i cant take too much food and if I hypo I cant take on too much sugar or I get dumping syndrome which isn't very nice at all. but the outcome in general for me is looking much brighter - i'm 8 stone lighter if not a lil more and also coping with what comes along on a day to day basis.
"Gastric band surgery, with great care from my GPs but very little after care"
