What I liked
They were organised, flexible, friendly and very commutative. I arrived 45 minutes early for my appoinment and instead of being left to wait I was dealt with straight away with all my pre-ops being completed within 10 minutes. When a number of patients arrived they were dealt with in the same way, which meant there was never a bitter neck or anyone waiting mre than 5 minutes.
I was thn asked to get changed into my gown and was promptly seen by both the surgeon and anthestist who explained everything to me clearly asking if I was ok and if I was happy to proceed.
Then shortly after a nurse took me through to the holding area to be prepared for surgery. Every step of the way I was treated with care, respect and ease, which made a stressful situation very easy to deal with.
After coming around from surgery I was met with 2 fantastic nurses who explained everything to me and ensured I was cared for incredibly well. We even chatted about baking Christmas cakes and had some fun conversations whilst I came around.
Then after being to the day case recovery ward there was a slight problem with my treatment, due to a misunderstanding between the surgeon and the recovery staff. The sister in charge dealt with it quickly and effectively and a plan was put in place. They informed my wife of the plan and even found time to make toast and a drink for me. After being transferred to ward D2 the sister from recovery accompanied me and explained the situation with the receiving ward. I spent another 2 hours on the ward at which point I was discharged by the sister on the ward.
My faith has been restored in the NHS and I could not have had better treatment anywhere else in such a clean and friendly environment.
What could be improved
I have tried hard to think what could be improved but can not think of anything
Anything else?
Thanks to all the staff from the receptionists, nursing staff, surgeon and anthestist as well as all the background staff for making it work so well.
Having been in the NHS for 5 years and been very unhappy with healthcare in a larger hospital further east up the coast I am over the moon to see there are beacons of excellence and I will be putting it all in writing to the CEO of the QA with personal thanks to all those who I managed to catch the names for
"Fantastic, safe, clean, professional, organised..."
