Was sent to ward 1 after my optician had found a bleed behind my right eye. he kept saying I cant tell you how serious this is.So arrived about 4 pm saw a doctor who said I will ask your GP to do blood tests and you need to be on blood thinners. i said I wont get bloods done in a hurry at my GP's so one of the nurses kindly stayed on to do my bloods.Rather nonchalantly I was given an appointment for 3 days after to come again to same ward. Had more pictures taken off eye told similar story re blood thinners but nothing given to me. I asked were we alright to go away on Saturday for a month both said OK and OK to drive.
Received a phone call late Friday asking me to come in to ward 21 as needed more tests doing, if this doctor had emailed through with his findings I could have gone in that day! So went on saturday so the most wonderful nurse and specialist who told me how serious it was and right away gave me 'script for blood thinners. had an ecg then MRI scan and had to go back for another scan on wednesday following as they were not open on a saturday. The consultant was marvellous so concerned re blood clots going to my brain or other eye. Not to drive for a month as I had a stroke in my eye.
I felt lack on communication fro m theses dept wasnt as good as it should have been. I only felt better after being treated by the nurseand the eye specilaist on ward 21 a life saviour thank you guys so much you are both stars God bless you.
"TIA ward 21 best treatment ever!!!"
