"I knew I was well looked after."

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

I attended A@E at the advice of my manager at work. Had a rash and felt my lips were swollen but not visible to anyone else. I was triaged by a nurse within an hour who took my details, examined me and referred me on to a consultant.

The consultant came out within an hour and examined me. He took me straight through to the cubicles and came back with antibiotics and antihistamine. An hour later the consultant was not happy that my lips were still swollen and wanted to keep me near resus. I panicked at that word but knew I was well looked after. The consultant told me he thought I had an allergic reaction to my BP meds as he also had the same symptoms as mine previously. I would like to thank all at A & E at university hospital Wishaw for looking after me so well in a very busy unit.

Dear librazp94,

Many thanks for taking the time to post your experience during your visit to the Emergency Department.

I can appreciate that this must have been quite a concerning time for you having suffered from an allergic reaction.

The staff will be really pleased to read your nice comments and I will ensure that this post is shared with them.

I hope you are fully recovered and feeling much better.

Best wishes

Andy
