I was admitted to hospital with Pancreatitis, via A& E, and after a number of tests, the decision was to remove my Gall bladder, but an ultra-scan failed to find it. I was then discharged 3 days later and was advised I would need an MRI scan. This took place two weeks after I was admitted, and after 2 weeks of hearing nothing, I tried to chase the results. I called the MRI reception and was advised the report had been sent on the day of the scan, and I would need to speak to out-patients to book an appointment, Out-patients said that, as I had been admitted through A& E, I needed to speak to my GP. My GP surgery had not received any results so they phoned MRI, who advised them to ask me to speak to the ward I was on. I waited in a long queue to speak to switch board, who then tried to connect me to the Frederick Salmon nurses station. They did not answer so I was sent back to the switch board, they tried again but unfortunately cut me off, so I had to queue again, this time I was put through, but the ward said I needed to speak to Mr Zafar in general surgery and transferred me, unfortunately to Rhumatology by mistake. A very helpful man called Richard took my details, found out what I needed, called me back, and had my results faxed over to my doctors surgery. I cannot thank Richard enough for taking the time to sort out a problem that was nothing to do with his area. The man is a star, and if you have customer awards/recognition he certainly deserves one.
