Was really nervous prior to going on ward D5 but that was settled on arrival as the reception were friendly and nurses on the ward were caring , friendly and ensured everyone was settled. The annesistest and surgeon were very clear in what was to be expected and procedure they would perform.
Overall there was repetitve questions and this was also reassuring to know they didn't want to miss any small details, after surgery when I came round I was shaking for what seemed an eternity, this was hurting my stomach but the surgical team were fantastic, there calm approach and reassurance made myself calm down as I was coming round.
Unfortunately due to myself being unable to go toilet I had to have a cathler again the nurses were caring and recognised I was disappointed to be staying overnight but there overall attitude kept me in high spirits.
Was moved to a different ward during the night, however one of the nurses who looked after myself came onto that ward the following day to check how I was doing, this made me feel they genuinely cared and actually made my day as it wasn't a ward she was responsible for etc.
The overall care from all the staff from cleaner to surgeon at stepping hill was first class .
Thank-you
