On Monday 11th June my wife suffered a major stroke at 17.20. I dialled 999 and 4 Car and Ambulance crew arrived. They had a difficult job to get to my wife as she was stuck in the downstairs toilet but they did and we were on the road from Huntingdon to City Hospital at 17.53 arriving very quickly. From here on for me it was an emotional daze. I do recall that at one time 7 individuals were working on my wife each doing their thing. I was taken to a private room where all was explained to me. I signed fo the special injection of Alterplase and it was given. After about 2 hours may be less, the two consultants again asked my wife to lift her leg and arm. This time she was able to do it, not very much but she could as before she was completely paralysed. The consultants and the whole team were so pleased.

We then were moved up to B11, Bay 1 were my wife was welcomed by the staff and that was a start of very high standard care from all involved. So many names should be mentioned but I don’t have them. All teams were very well run and organised. So much so that my wife blamed me for her move to Hinchingbrooke! She did not want to leave but we did after a week. I wish I could name names but the whole episode unsettled so I didn’t.

What I can say thank you for saving my wife.
