It took me about 6 weeks to realise that the terrible pain in my groin was a hernia.
Once I went to the GP I was very impressed with the speed of progress. 6 weeks from referral to surgery. Nobody offered me any choice of hospital, but I was very happy to go to Manchester Royal.
Surgery on a day basis means that everyone is called in for 7am. Not quite sure why, as we weren't even sent to our beds until about 8am.
Post-operative advice seemed unnecessarily cautious. In week 2 "walking in straight lines only". No cycling or swimming until week 4.
