I work in Forth Valley and am not local to the area, but attended the MAU when I became unwell at work as I am 5 months pregnant.
I was so impressed by the care I got from everyone, the phone was picked up promptly when I phoned triage and the midwife was helpful, advising me to come straight up. She was expecting me on arrival and the fact that I am booked elsewhere wasn't an issue at all - she was able to access my notes and was very kind and reassuring. Investigations were done promptly, I was put in a clean and pleasant room and everything was explained to me. I saw a doctor very quickly, who was also very thorough in her examination and explanation of what was happening.
I was very anxious when I arrived and overall the care was really excellent, I turned out to have an easily treatable infection but I felt reassured and that my baby and I had been properly investigated.
In contrast - by the time my own MAU, who I had also phoned at the time I became unwell and had advised me they'd "get someone to phone me back", did actually phone me back, I was already being seen by the Forth Valley midwife and having a doppler ultrasound. The difference in care was amazing compared to what I've had so far elsewhere. I only wish I lived in Forth Valley and could have my baby here instead!
